Second seed Nicolas Almagro claimed back-to-back service breaks in a dramatic finish to the Costa do Sauipe final to upset top seed Carlos Moya 7-6(4), 3-6, 7-5 to win his third ATP title.
Almagro, who reached the Costa do Sauipe quarterfinals in 2006 and 2007, won his third ATP final. His prior titles came in Valencia in 2006 and 2007.
On Saturday top seeds Marcelo Melo and Andre Sa rallied to defeat Spaniards Albert Montanes and Santiago Ventura 4-6, 6-2, 10-7 in one hour and 23 minutes to capture their second ATP title together.
