Nadal Wins Fourth Straight Title

Rafael Nadal became just the second player in ATP Masters Series history (since 1990) to win both singles and doubles titles at the same event.

The World No. 2 clinched his fourth successive singles title at Masters Series Monte-Carlo Presented by Rolex with a 7-5, 7-5 victory over ATP World No. 1 Roger Federer. It was the third straight year the pair had met for the championship.

Nadal then partnered fellow Spaniard Tommy Robredo to a 6-3, 6-3 win over fourth seeds Mahesh Bhupathi and Mark Knowles in the doubles final.

The 21-year-old Nadal joins Jim Courier (1991 Indian Wells) as the only players to win both titles in an ATP Masters Series tournament (since 1990).

Singles Final:
[2] R Nadal (ESP) d [1] R Federer (SUI) 75 75

Doubles Final:
Nadal/Robredo d [4] Bhupathi/Knowles 63 63

2008 Final Review

Muster Backs It Up- One of the all-time great clay court players was at home in Monte Carlo. Austria's Thomas Muster won back-to-back titles in 1995 and 1996 and was also victorious in 1992. His 29 wins still stands as the most wins since the Tennis Masters Series format began in 1990.
