Davydenko Masters Nadal to Win Sony Ericsson Open Title

Fourth-seeded Russian Nikolay Davydenko captured his second ATP Masters Series title as he defeated World No. 2 Rafael Nadal 6-4, 6-2 in the Sony Ericsson Open final over one hour and 30 minutes.

In the first all Top 5 Miami final since 2004, the Volgograd resident becomes the first Russian to lift the singles trophy at the Sony Ericsson Open in the tournament’s 24-year history.

Nadal finishes runner-up in Miami for the second time, having lost his first final in five sets in 2005 against World No. 1 Roger Federer. The Spaniard was appearing in his 13th career ATP Masters Series final, and was bidding to become the fourth player to claim at least 10 AMS titles since 1990.

In doubles, top seeds and defending champions Bob and Mike Bryan captured their first ATP title of the season Saturday as they defeated No. 4 seeds Mahesh Bhupathi and Mark Knowles 6-2, 6-2 in 53 minutes.

The Bryans won their 45th career title together (11th ATP Masters Series) and are now No. 4 in the Open Era team titles list.
