Gonzalez Captures 10th Career Title

Second-seeded Fernando Gonzalez captured his 10th career ATP title over unseeded Italian Simone Bolelli 7-6(4), 6-7(4), 6-3 at the BMW Open by FWU AG in Munich.

The 27-year-old Chilean remained perfect on clay (10-0) this season with his second ATP title of the year. In February, he won the Vina del Mar title. Four of the Chilean's 10 career ATP titles have come on European soil, including 2002 Palermo, 2005 Amersfoort and 2005 Basel.

In the doubles final, the German wild card pairing of Michael Berrer and Rainer Schuettler prevailed 7-5, 3-6, 10-8 over Americans Scott Lipsky and David Martin in 86 minutes.

For the 27-year-old Berrer it is his first career ATP title, while it is Schuettler’s fourth career ATP doubles title, and second of the year after the 32-year-old won the Houston title with Ernests Gulbis (d. Cuevas-Granollers).

[2] F Gonzalez (CHI) d S Bolelli (ITA) 76(4) 67(4) 63
