World golfing No. 1 Tiger Woods said that he was delighted to have his tennis counterpart, Roger Federer, walk the final nine holes of his practice round in Miami today. Woods Thursday begins the CA World Golf Championship while Federer is readying himself for a Saturday night start at the Ericsson Open in the same city.
"It was great to have Roger out here," Woods said. "He's a wonderful supporter of golf and I think it's pretty neat when you have probably the most dominant athlete on the planet in your gallery."
Woods and Federer - who both dominate their respective sports - have struck up a close friendship. Woods and wife Elin were guests in Federer's box during last year's US Open final, with Woods later celebrating in the locker room with his fellow No. 1. Federer has been in Woods' gallery at the HSBC Championship in China last year and at last month's Dubai Desert Classic.
After watching on television Federer claim his 10th Grand Slam title at January's Australian Open, Woods sent Federer a text message: '12 to 10' - a reference to the number of Grand Slam titles won by both men.
