Daniel Nestor, the Yugoslavia-born Canadian who now resides in The Bahamas, teamed with Serbia's Nenad Zimonjic after splitting with longtime partner Mark Knowles following the 2007 US Open.

The duo is one of the toughest to break. Nestor's sliding left-handed serve is a wicked delivery - particularly to the ad court - and Zimonjic is one of the biggest servers in the doubles game.

Early in the 2008 season, they reached the Australian Open quarterfinals and followed with a semifinal effort in Dubai. They advanced to the final at their second straight ATP Masters Series tournament, but finished as runners-up to Stanford ATP Doubles Race leaders Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram in Indian Wells.

After three straight opening losses, the pair hit back by reaching the finals in their next four tournaments. They fell to Stanford ATP Doubles Race leaders Bob and Mike Bryan at ATP Masters Series Rome, and then avenged that loss in the Masters Series Hamburg title match. They carried the momentum into Roland Garros, where they finished as runners-up (l. to Cuevas/Horna).

They took their final streak to five straight tournaments as they followed with the grass court titles at Queen's Club and Wimbledon (d. Bjorkman/Ullyett). With the Wimbledon triumph, Nestor assumed the No. 1 doubles ranking and completed the career Golden Slam, while Zimonjic clinched his first Grand Slam title.

In their first three tournaments together in 2007, the duo reached the quarterfinals in Moscow and won their second title as a pair at the St. Petersburg Open. They had already won one title together, in Lyon 2001. They followed up the title run with a final appearance at AMS Paris, falling to Bryan/Bryan.

Nestor brought 48 doubles title to the partnership and more than 600 match wins after appropriately reaching the milestone in 2007 on home soil in Montreal. He won the doubles gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics with Sebastian Lareau. Nestor previously held the No. 1 doubles ranking and he and Knowles were the year-end No. 1 team in 2002 and 2004.

Zimonjic is a two-time Wimbledon finalist who broke into the Top 5 Stanford ATP Doubles Rankings for the first time in late August 2007. He came into the new partnership with 17 career doubles titles, including three ATP Masters Series shields.
