The Bryan Brothers' 'RDC' Drill
Wayne Bryan, who introduced his sons to the drill, explains its origins: "RDC stands for Romanian Davis Cup Drill and we got it from Ion Tiriac and Ilie Nastase and it was a drill they always did when they were one of the top teams in the world in the 70s," Wayne Bryan says. "You introduce the drill by having two players stand on the center service line at the "T", with the other two players 10-12 feet behind. You have each player shuffle side to side quickly with one player going to their right and touching the far doubles alley with their outside foot and then shuffling all the way across the court to the other doubles sideline. "After getting comfortable with this and doing it four or five times, they feed the ball in and try to hit the other person right in the chest as they go side to side. This is a fabulous drill as it develops independence of hands and feet. You get lots of wide volleys, low volleys, and half volleys. When someone misses the next team immediately fires the next ball and continues. You can also make this competitive/offensive or defensive and cooperative depending on how you run or score the drill." More Video From Delray Beach:
